Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position after another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Failings and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with results like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until it is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
