The British government is ready to advance with using the full worth of seized Russia's funds to aid the Ukrainian military campaign, PM Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a joint statement, the officials of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany emphasized that this joint measure would increase strain on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to engage in negotiations.

They further noted that the move would be carried out in strong partnership with the America.

British restrictions have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russia's assets since the Russian government initiated its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. However, until now, funds sent to Ukraine using Russian assets had only been sourced from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to advance efforts toward employing the full value of the immobilized Moscow's national assets to conclude the conflict.

He stated that additional measures over the next period would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This announcement follows European Union leaders gathered in Copenhagen last week to debate using frozen Russia's funds for a €140 billion financial aid to Ukraine.

Recently, US President Donald Trump urged international partners to seize or otherwise use frozen Russia's assets, according to news outlets.

The total of seized Russia's assets in the EU is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

Moscow executed widespread bombardments throughout Ukraine on Friday, leading to blackouts in large parts of Kyiv, the city, and multiple additional areas.

In a message on an online platform subsequent to the attack, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault aimed at non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not just talk but concrete steps - from the America, the European Union, and the G7 - in providing air defence systems and implementing sanctions," he stated.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky informed reporters he would urge Sir Keir to participate in the Purl programme, under which partner nations acquire arms from the US to donate to Ukraine.

While commending the United Kingdom's consistent assistance for Kyiv, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would participate in the program, as well as enforce more sanctions on Moscow.
