Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
