Multiple Injured as Turbulence Strikes A Delta Airlines Plane Arriving in Sydney
Multiple passengers and crew sustained injuries after a Delta Airlines flight from LA to Sydney encountered turbulence this past Friday.
Delta Flight 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, a representative for the carrier informed. Several cabin crew members were injured.
Local paramedics reported they evaluated five individuals, and transferred a trio to hospital with relatively minor issues that such as pain in the back and headaches. Those affected were between their 30s to 70s.
This marks the most recent case of commercial jets experiencing atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists pointing out that global warming is a significant contributor.
There were nearly 250 travelers and 15 crew members on the Airbus A350, the representative said, stating that the plane touched down "safely" at Sydney Airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday.
The NSW Ambulance Service indicated they got a call just only 180 seconds prior to the plane arrived, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
