In the past, Barry featured in League Two. Currently, he is focused to assist the head coach win the World Cup in 2026. Rapid Rise

“All begins with a vision … However, I hold that passion overcomes challenges. You have the dream but then you bring it down: ‘What's the process, gradually?’ We dream about winning the World Cup. Focus on Minutiae

Obsession, focusing on tiny aspects, defines Barry’s story. Putting in long hours day and night, the coaching duo challenge limits. The approach involve player analysis, a strategy for high temperatures for the finals abroad, and creating a unified squad. Barry emphasizes the national team spirit and rejects terms like “international break”.

“It's not time off or a break,” he explains. “It was vital to establish a setup that the players want to be part of and they're pushed that it’s a breather.”

Ambitious Trainers

The assistant coach says along with the manager as “very greedy”. “We aim to control every aspect of the game,” he declares. “We seek to command the entire field and that’s what we spend most of our time to. It’s our job to not only anticipate with developments and to lead and innovate. It's an ongoing effort to have this problem/solution-finding mentality. And it’s to make the complex clear.

“There are 50 days alongside the squad prior to the World Cup. We must implement an intricate approach for a tactical edge and explain it thoroughly in that period. We need to progress from idea to information to knowledge to execution.

“To create a system that allows us to be productive during the limited time, we must utilize the whole 500 we’ll have had from when we started. When the squad is away, we need to foster connections with each player. It's essential to invest time in calls with players, observing them live, sense their presence. Relying only on those 50 days, we won't succeed.”

World Cup Qualifiers

He is getting ready for the final pair in the qualifying campaign – against Serbia at Wembley and Albania in Tirana. They've already ensured their place at the finals with six wins out of six and six clean sheets. But there will be no easing off; on the contrary. Now is the moment to reinforce the team’s identity, to gain more impetus.

“The manager and I agree that the style of play ought to embody the best aspects from the top division,” Barry says. “The athleticism, the flexibility, the strength, the honesty. The national team shirt should be harder than ever to get but comfortable to have on. It should feel like a cape not protective gear.

“To make it light, it's crucial to offer an approach that enables them to operate similar to weekly matches, that connects with them and allows them to take the handbrake off. They should overthink less and focus more on action.

“There are emotional wins available to trainers in attack and defense – playing out from the back, pressing from the front. However, in midfield on the field, that section, it seems football is static, particularly in the Premier League. Coaches have extensive data now. They can organize – mid-blocks, deep blocks. Our aim is to increase tempo in that central area.”

Drive for Growth

Barry’s hunger for improvement knows no bounds. When he studied for the Uefa pro licence, he had concerns about the presentation, since his group contained luminaries such as Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick. To enhance his abilities, he entered tough situations imaginable to improve his talks. Such as Walton jail in Liverpool, and he trained detainees for a training session.
