NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates includes live text of the weekend matchups on various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available on designated networks covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week in the football calendar , following recent discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, they both lost their unbeaten records.
Striking in those games was the amount of infractions both committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments meaning they kind of beat themselves having led 17-3 going into the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this weekend.
But it proved positive to see how Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to have that deficit and then direct three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the game by four points.
The Broncos have the top defender with cornerback their star corner. They are first in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that contest.
They executed effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing more than four pass rushers instead they could plug two LBs in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and send a slot defender off the edge.
At the start in the campaign, we said during a show how the Broncos might emerge as the current year's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly and did a good job of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?
New TE Evan Engram has stepped up significantly while new RB JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).
It's impressive that the coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
That shows how Denver are a squad that wants to run first, since you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush and keeps you in positive situations.
It's also helped QB the young passer, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He boasts incredible passing ability, which is different, plus he is highly agile.
His strengths are his movement, the capacity to pass while moving, as well as using varied release points to deliver the pass when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver precision throws over the middle and past defenders.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.
When you constantly run the ball it consumes time and forces the defence to stay on the field for longer, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the area downfield side to side. This proves draining.
Nix has pushed back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for the coach to have a young quarterback who's similar to play-dough. The coach can really build something up the way he desires to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
The head coach has won a Super Bowl and has surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are having on offence is largely due to his leadership, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix aids make him what he is.
There's no better a more qualified person guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and build confidence.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.
Currently, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're performing better than most, which is a good place to be in the AFC West. The key to do is maintain this path.
They excel at embracing their forte, which is running the ball, and this is precisely what they should do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad without a win a game.
Ever since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway in five outings, which is surprising when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the division.
This hinges upon what version Kansas City shows up they face because the Broncos {beat|def
